Rugby Specific Physical Therapy with Dr. Sarah Hall PT, DPT

The Problem

There’s a lack of Rugby Specific, Rugby Trained and Rugby Physical Therapists in South Carolina dedicated to Helping Rugby Players return to play Fitter, Faster and Stronger.

INJURIES HAPPEN

Rugby is Tough, it’s Physical, and it’s incredibly Demanding on the Mind & Body. But this is a big reason WHY we love it - it’s addicting and is why we come back for more. Most rugby players you will come across will talk about this, the love they have for the sport, the passion, the genuine joy. But like any contact sport, injuries WILL happen.

DON’T DO GENERIC

Rugby Players deserve a Rugby Specific Physical Therapy Service. This is WHY I’m here, to fill that space. When it comes to the Rehabilitation Process, I encourage you to NOT do generic, do Rugby. Find a PT who has Rugby experience, who understands the game and the demands it has on the body. Speed up your Recovery & Maximize your Performance through Specialized, Individualized & Rugby Specific PT.

Advantages of Cash-Based Physical Therapy

  1. More 1 on 1 time spent with your physical therapist which means building a stronger partnership with your therapist and more time spent discovering the root cause of what’s going on.

  2. More value delivered to you based on the quality of care you receive and putting you first at each session.

  3. It might actually save you money in the long run. Would you rather see a therapist 3 x a week for 20 minutes max or see them 1 x a week for 1 hour choosing the treatments that you both determine are the most helpful in achieving your goals in a shorter amount of time?

  4. More freedom during evaluations and treatments, which means together we can determine what to evaluate and how to treat.

  5. More flexibility to schedule different types of visits at a frequency you want which means more time in your day and potentially more money saved.

  6. More empowerment to the patient because he/she is investing in their health and learning to stay accountable to their goals and stay committed to better outcomes.

Sarah’s Testimonials

Working with Sarah was a great experience. She was incredibly friendly and professional throughout the experience which made it probably the best experience I have had with a physical therapist. She was very helpful throughout my time working with her and probably helped me get back to rugby faster than I expected to. She was able to make time for me despite both of our busy schedules and the exercises she gave me helped me feel a lot more confident going back to sports than I have after other physical therapy experiences. My other experiences with physical therapy have often become boring and felt like I was getting no where but Sarah always gave me new things to work on so I never got bored and always felt like I was getting better. She was very focused on helping me get better and it felt like her work with me was personalized for me as opposed to being a generic plan to help me recover. After ending physical therapy with Sarah I was able to get back to doing what I enjoy with no problems or worries about getting reinjured. All in all I believe Sarah is the best physical therapist I have ever worked with and I am very thankful that I worked with her as opposed to going somewhere else. I would recommend her to anyone with physical therapy needs.

During one of our scrimmages I went for a tackle and ended up injuring my ACL and Meniscus. This was honestly devastating and I feared that I would be out of commission for many months. Nevertheless, after just a few sessions with Sarah I was already feeling closer to 100% again. Furthermore, by our last session I was feeling confident enough to get back on the pitch. 2 weeks later I ended up playing in the LongIsland7s, feeling better than ever. One thing that separated Sarah from other physical therapists I’ve had in the past is that she knows what rugby is and how it is played. Through this, rugby drills were integrated into the therapies which not only helped my leg heal, but made PT a much more enjoyable experience

My experience with the Halls was a bet on myself. I knew that there were components of my life that I was not taking enough responsibility for controlling. I knew that my exercise, diet, and sleep habits were not aiding in managing the stresses of life that I was already feeling. I bet that if I tried my hardest for a couple months to listen and learn from friends and mentors that I knew had a better grip on how to live a healthy lifestyle, I would come out on the other end with a better grip on how to handle the reality of living a stress-filled college lifestyle. Doing better is infectious. Once changes to one area of your life, you notice the rippling butterfly effect that it triggers in the other aspects of your health.

By the end of the experience, I noticed notable changes in the whole way that I interacted with the world. Confidence went up and with it came a desire to improve in other habitual areas of life. My whole mindset was shifting from “what if I did this” to “how can I make this happen”. The difference may seem small, but the shift in mindset has led to important growth. As I have found to be true in my experience with Troy and Sarah, it is the small changes that we have consistency in over long periods of time that constitute sustainable change.

The physical result of the two months I spent with Troy and Sarah was a loss of 2 belt sizes and 10 lbs. All it took was manageable changes in my diet and focusing on a workout schedule that worked for me. I had commitment to make a change going in, but the support and constant accountability that was made available to me made all the difference. I cannot say enough how thankful I am to have both Troy and Sarah in my corner and always encouraging me to set the bar a little higher

Working with Troy and Sarah has been extremely beneficial for me on and off the field. I went in with the initial goals of being a better person and trying to help better others around me. I also wanted to improve my work/life balance & Rugby. They have both been amazing with their support and advice on a weekly basis. Troy has helped me out a lot on the mental side of things with work and rugby and how to transition between the both - always asking the “how” and “why” questions which get you thinking why are you doing this and how are you planning on achieving it. Sarah has shared her knowledge on Nutrition & Health with me which has caused me to be a lot more mindful and prepared when it comes to training, games and everyday life. I would recommend both to any rugby player or athlete! I look forward to working with the Hall’s and becoming a more well rounded person and athlete. Thanks!

Troy and Sarah have been instrumental in getting me back to my best since the extended break from rugby in 2020. Sarah’s knowledge around health and wellness helped me with my diet, and preparation for a short and intense pre season, and her expertise around rehab and injury management, helped me deal with minor injuries and set backs during the pandemic. Troy’s experience as an International Rugby player has given me a sounding board for all things physical and mental preparation. Having someone to talk to about my own game and struggles has allowed me to re-focus and put the best version of myself on the field each week
